Review of Pablo (2012)

This was a fascinating exhibit on a person who I had not really heard of but certainly recognize his body of work. If I were watching this movie on my own I would have probably paused the film several times and taken pictures for possible inspiration images because there were several exciting visuals. His style of typography and visual communication is rather distinctive and inspiring. This movie makes me want to go out and make some interesting motion graphics (which is good considering that is the subject of the class I am watching it in). I like how this movie did not put Pablo Ferro on a pedestal which is often done happens with documentaries like this one: sure, he’s talented but they showed he was human and didn’t gloss over sex and drug use (though they did paint it in a positive light rather than a neutral focus but I suppose this is caused by the interviewees). Rather nice film with a great animation style. Even the film’s animation made me think about what I want to do. I am glad I got the chance to see this film and know who this great artist is because I definitely know the movie’s he designed work for.
